                                   Author's Preface

I tried to bring together the words of these two private figures who have contributed to the spiritual development of mankind and bring out their similar aspects. I suppose that this mini book is the first specialized work done in this regard.

I found it impressive that the words of these two people who lived in different times, in different geographies and in different beliefs, are almost identical and point out the same thing.

Their agelong guidance continues today in a very effective way. In the words of mentors such as Ibn Arabi, Hafiz, Yunus Emre, Osho, Echart, Mooji, you can find similar things they said hundreds of years ago. The way they point out is the same. The words they said are genuinely universal. These words shake every person deeply who is on the spiritual path and their guidance continues impressively over time and space.

                                      Life of Rumi

He was born in 1207 in the Belh region of Horasan, in the town of Vakhsh in the borders of Afghanistan. His father, Bahaeddin Veled, was a famous scholar of the period and was known for his title "Sultan of the scholars". There are widespread remarks that his ethnic origin is Persian, Tajik or Turk although there are debates about it.

One year after the death of his father, Bahaeddin Veled, Rumi went under the spiritual decree of Sayyid Burhaneddin who came to Konya in 1232 and served him for nine years. He died in 1273.

Rumi is one of the most prolific scholars in his religion Islam. He has brought a universal breath to the religion, far above its time. His masterpiece is Mesnevi. His epithet is Celâleddin. The title of "Mevlânâ" in the sense of "our master" has been spoken to honor him. Hudâvendigâr, another agnomen, is given to Rumi by his father and comes from the meaning of "sultan''. Rumi is called Mevlana in Anatolia where he lived as well as he called Belhî in the city he was born. He was also mentioned with the name of Mullah Hunkar and Moll-yi Rûm because of his profession. Mevlâna Celâleddin-i Rumi, known as "Mevlana" in today's eastern world, is very influenced by Shams Tabrizi, he has fallen in divine love and has searched God in the image of man.

                                  Life of Buddha

Siddhartha Gautama's birth and death dates are not certain. It is estimated that he was born in 563 BC. He was born in Lumbini near the Nepal border and belonging to the Sakya dynasty.

His father Suddhodana is the king of the Sakya tribe. His family gave him the name "Siddharta" which means " He Who Achieves His Goal". The name "Shakyamuni" indicates his origins.

Siddhartha Gautama lives in a palace in early years of his life. His father desired his son Siddharta to be the next king after him, did not allow his son leaving away from the royal palace so he would not see senility, sickness and death on the streets.

Siddharta Gautama has become aware of what life really is when he is 29 years old, he realized that richness, luxurious life does not bring happiness, that people's sufferings and meaningless of his own life.

Siddharta Buddha left his city when he was 29 years old, leaving his newborn son Rahula and his wife Yasodhara behind and went to search for the way to the salvation of the sufferings and pain.

For six years, he has wandered around in the Ganges valley like pilgrims, and has frequently practiced the teachings of the ascetism. However, he has found out that these religions and knowledges were not serving his purpose and he gave up. After leaving them, he first began to look for his own way through deep-thinking techniques (Meditation) and described it as "middle way."

In the world, his general name is "Buddha". He is known as the founder of Buddhism.

What you seek is seeking you. Rumi

What you think, you become. Buddha

People define themselves with what they do, with their words, with their actions, with what they think. The key to what kind of life we will live is hidden in us. What we live is nothing but in a way putting in words our very selves. The person reflects himself in another way of expressing. Everyone read himself along with what he lives.

Everything happened to us are reflections of our inner state, whether we accept it or not. If what comes out first starts glazed within us and life is nothing but these secrets coming to light, then we must look inside ourselves to change things. We have to bring our thoughts together, get rid of scattered thoughts and we have to think in that way in order for our life to have the things we want in the universal rules of life.

Love is cure. Love is power. Love is the magic of changes. Rumi

Hatred does not cease by hatred, but only by love; this is the eternal rule. Buddha

There is a wise saying, "to look in terms of eternity". It has been told for us to see the big picture and understand the casual relationship in our lives instead of looking with daily angles. Love is modest and light. Hatred is exaggerated and heavy, that is why it seems more real and convincing. Whereas love is real. Love contains mercy, forgiveness, understanding, faith, respect, acceptance, awareness. One will open our soul to eternity and the other will throw us into a cell. Love is healing, medicine, and the language of the universe.
